In 1935 Los Angeles, Fritz Lang meets young film enthusiast Willy, seeking interview material. Lang recalls his WWI service as an officer staying at the home of Slovenian lawyer Karol Gatnik, where he befriended the family and discovered Gatnik’s love of film. Together they filmed a short movie, Lang’s first hands‑on experience with cinematography.
