Flavio, Fernando Poe Jr., is a skilled Panday (blacksmith) living under the tyrannical rule of Lizardo, Max Alvarado. Each night he is forced to brand innocent children as a cruel symbol of Lizardo’s grip on the village, a task foisted by Lizardo’s hard-nosed lieutenant, Pilo, Paquito Diaz. The burden weighs heavily on Flavio as he quietly resists while protecting those who have already suffered under the despot’s thumb.
One day Tata Temyong, Lito Anzures, the Panday who came before him, uncovers the legendary Black Book said to hold the secret to Lizardo’s defeat. That same night a meteorite crashes into a nearby field, shifting the village’s fate. Guided by a prophecy in the Black Book, Flavio and Tata Temyong decide to craft a legendary weapon—an ancient dagger forged from meteor metal and aided by an old bell—believed to be the only tool capable of piercing Lizardo’s power. With this weapon in hand, Flavio and Tata Temyong set out on a perilous journey to free the land, accompanied by Tata’s eager apprentice Lando, Bentot Jr., and Monica, Liz Alindogan, a woman Flavio himself once saved from Lizardo’s men. They move forward with a renewed sense of purpose and a wary optimism that the old prophecies might finally meet the will of true courage.
Their voyage leads them to a seaside hut that houses one of Lizardo’s henchmen, a wary wizard. Flavio faces him and defeats the sorcerer, a victory that swells with the glow of the humming dagger. Soon after, they are beset by siyokoy (mermen) whose attacks falter when the dagger hums and shines with power, a beacon of hope against the ocean’s secrets. Pilo, enraged by Flavio’s rising legend, arrives with a squad of men to settle old scores, but their assault is turned back as the party presses onward toward the fortress. The group also runs afoul of night-haunting beasts as they pass through a forest, where the danger is as much in the shadows as in the creatures themselves.
In a tense turn, Tata Temyong and Monica are captured and carried off to Lizardo’s fortress, while Lando finds a precarious refuge in a hut haunted by an aswang; Flavio tracks his young ally, aided by his steadfast dagger, and dispels the menace with resolve. The peril of the path deepens as the heroes race to reunite before Lizardo closes in on their plans. The ever-watchful wizard’s fate remains unresolved, but the band continues toward the climactic clash that awaits them.
Lizardo finally calls Flavio into a public duel, dragging Tata Temyong, Monica, and all of Lizardo’s slaves to witness the confrontation. The tyrant orders his men to attack, but Flavio’s dagger—a weapon forged from prophecy and star-metal—transforms into a gleaming sword, and he cuts through the henchmen with deft precision. The duel then shifts to Lizardo himself, whose aging accelerates with every strike Flavio lands. The relentless blows wear Lizardo down until Flavio drives the dagger home, ending Lizardo’s reign once and for all. Lizardo Max Alvarado dies, fading into the night as the village’s future begins to unfold anew.
With Lizardo defeated, Flavio leads his companions and the former slaves toward freedom, their hope restored by a weapon that was born from legends and tempered by courage. The land, once oppressed, begins to breathe again as the Panday’s vow holds firm: to shield the innocent and to stand against tyranny, no matter the cost.
