Taped in 1977 but held back until August 1979 on ABC, the special presents Andy Kaufman's signature routines—Foreign Man/Latka and his Elvis impersonation—along with eclectic sketches. It features a cameo by Howdy Doody, the “Has‑been Corner,” and a gag using fake TV‑static that executives feared would confuse viewers. Written by Kaufman, Zmuda and Mel Sherer, with music by Kaufman.
