A man returns each year to see his estranged family and friends, exposing biting social commentary. His forty‑year‑old comrades belong to the nouveau riche, self‑styled elite comfortable slacking at work. The film mocks Teutonic sentimentality and ridicules narrow‑mindedness, while strong performances outweigh occasional unintentional humor in Ulrich Schamoni’s second feature.
