Starring Nagarjuna Akkineni and Raveena Tandon, this sweeping aviation-based drama centers on Chandra Shekar, better known as Chandu, a fearless ace who finds his life defined by gravity-defying flights and a loyal bond with his fellow pilot Suri. Chandu spends his days at a New Delhi flying club, cheering the crowd with his daredevil stunts and keeping a warm, mentor-like relationship with Jagadiswara Rao, the club’s guiding figure. Indu, the daughter of industrial magnate Prasada Rao, secretly dreams of the skies and longs to learn to fly, eventually enrolling in the club without her father’s knowledge. The plot thickens as Jagadiswara Rao tries to set up a match between Chandu and Padma, Rao’s daughter, but the two men and women find themselves pulled in different directions: Suri and Padma fall in love, while Chandu and Indu’s connection grows into something more complicated and often fraught.

When the path to romance intersects with duty, a dramatic act of misfortune tests everyone. A flight destined to soar ends in tragedy as a sudden bird strike disrupts the route, forcing Chandu and Indu into a perilous escape that carries them far from the safety of their club into the rugged embrace of the Himalayan ranges. What follows is a high-stakes odyssey as Suri and Padma rally behind the Indian Aviation authorities to locate them, while Chandu and Indu wage a fight for survival. The duo is driven into a wild bear encounter and a near-fatal sequence that culminates in a dramatic parachute jump from a battered jet, hanging on the edge of life as they teeter on the cusp of death. In a tense rescue, Suri and Jagadiswara Rao manage to reach them, and the couple returns to safety to resume their lives—Chandu then enters the Indian Air Force and Suri moves into Civil Aviation, with both couples soon marrying and beginning families.

Tragedy reshapes the domestic horizon: Indu endures a life-changing car accident that leaves her unable to bear children, while Padma gives birth to twins, Ram and Lakshman, whom Suri and Padma entrust to Chandu and Indu as a symbol of their enduring friendship. The two families build a warm, loving home, with Indu’s protective devotion particularly directed at Ram, who becomes a pivotal figure in their shared world. As the children grow, Lakshman’s health takes a dire turn: Acute Leukemia necessitates a bone marrow transplant from Ram. Indu’s reluctance to consent sparks a separation, and she flees to Delhi with Ram. Yet love and obligation pull the family back together, and a final reconciliation begins as Chandu issues a last invitation to return.

The stakes rise dramatically when ISI militants hijack Indian Airlines Flight 814, prompting the government to authorize a One Man Commando Operation. Chandu, driven by a fierce sense of duty, undertakes a daring mission to board the hijacked aircraft from an unconventional angle and thwart the terrorists, all while Lakshman’s life remains fragile. Through courage and sacrifice, the mission succeeds, Lakshman’s condition improves with Ram’s donor connection standing as a hopeful beacon, and the film closes on a jubilant reunion of the entire family, their years of trials giving way to lasting happiness.
