Robert Louis Stevenson ventures into the lusty West in this off‑beat Western. In 1880 he travels to Napa Valley, California, where he becomes entangled with a stagecoach driver who captures a mysterious hooded highwayman known as The Monk. Inspired by a supposedly true incident and based on Stevenson’s novel The Silverado Squatters, the film delivers a dandy, high‑spirited adventure yarn.
