In present day, Shri is a 42-year-old Sanskrit professor who lives alone in Jamshedpur. He shares his apartment with his friend Deepak and endures a daily visit from a mouse he names Pandey, which he releases each night. His personal life remains quiet with little romance on the horizon.

Shri's brother Bhanu is a property dealer who wants him to quit teaching and join the family business. Bhanu rents the apartment to Shri and pressures him to switch careers and finances. The family dynamic adds a layer of control over Shri's life.

Deepak introduces Shri to the sex-chat app Aap Jaisa Koi, which costs Rs 699 per month and promises privacy. Shri is skeptical at first but curious enough to try it one night. He ends up connected with a woman named Madhu without knowing her true identity.

Shri and Madhu begin chatting on the app and form a connection while remaining anonymous. In a moment of nervousness, Shri reveals his full name during a call. They share flirtatious, intimate conversation that fuels a real curiosity about each other.

Joy, Madhu's maternal uncle, proposes a marriage between Shri and Madhu, and Kusum supports the idea. The proposal comes through as a family-driven arrangement, and Shri is initially reluctant.

Shri and Madhu meet in a Kolkata coffee house; he is instantly smitten, and she agrees to relocate to Jamshedpur if they marry. This marks the transition from online flirtation to real-world romance.

To test Madhu's background, Deepak and Shri enlist Rakesh to pose as Madhu's student in Kolkata. Rakesh uncovers Madhu's past affair with Namit and learns about her virginity confession; Madhu admits she lost it at 16. The revelations complicate Shri's growing feelings.

Shri and Madhu become engaged, but she begins teasing him on the phone, revealing her provocative side. Shri realizes she is the woman from the app, and a panic pushes him to consider fleeing to Agartala. At a bus station, Madhu confronts him and explains that she is a paying user on the app and desires equality, not secrecy.

News breaks that both Shri and Madhu met on a sex-chat app, triggering a family clash. Bhanu confronts Madhu's family, while Kusum argues that Shri was also on the app and deserves a fair chance. Nisha counsels Shri, but she ultimately leaves with Kusum for a corporate meeting.

Shri travels to Kolkata to salvage the relationship and meets Madhu again, interrupting her with Namit. He tells her he is ready to forgive and move forward. Madhu responds that she wants equality, not forgiveness, signaling a shift in their dynamic.

Bhanu arrives in Kolkata for the wedding venue and encounters Kusum and Joy, challenging his control. In a hotel confrontation, Kusum speaks up about her lost identity within the family and leaves Bhanu. Shri supports Kusum, choosing to stand with her.

Shri, Kusum, and Joy stay in Kolkata for the Durga Puja celebrations, and Shri apologizes to Madhu. He commits to learning to love Madhu as an equal, and the couple ultimately reunite, signaling a new, more equal partnership.
