Five years after the initial events, in 1998, Cheung and Prince form a partnership in a factory making unlicensed VCDs while Prince secretly runs cocaine. Cheung also meets defense attorney Sandy as he faces a lawsuit after crushing Chow Tai-man's head during debt collection. Ruby, who has long admired Cheung, helps raise his son Tai-hung, and Tai-hung's classmates see Cheung as a bad influence, fueling his violence.
