A Long Walk (2024) Plot Summary & Ending Explained

The film’s climax narrows the endless contest down to two friends—Raymond Garraty and the compassionate Peter McVries. Throughout the walk, McVries repeatedly pulls Garraty back from the brink, forging a bond that makes the final moments almost unbearable. When the last stretch arrives, McVries, exhausted and resigned, attempts to end his own march by simply sitting down, hoping the military will shoot him.
