Sam, a laundromat worker, pines for Lindy, who has left him for another man. After finding a large sum of cash, he flies to New York for a spree—new clothes, jewelry and a car. Back home, Lindy returns, drawn to his wealth, dropping her rival. At Sam’s engagement party he and his former rival play cards, unaware the third player is a card shark.
