Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker

Derek finds a Christmas present on the porch. Tom opens it and discovers a Santa-shaped musical orb that activates and tightens with retractable cords, attempting to strangle him. Tom stumbles toward the fireplace and is impaled on the poker, a death Sarah discovers moments later.

Two weeks later, Sarah brings Derek to Joe Petto's toy store, with Noah Adams secretly following. Derek rejects every toy the storekeeper shows him. Joe berates his son Pino for the faltering sales, while Pino struggles under the pressure. Noah buys a few items before leaving.

That evening, Noah begins taking apart the toys to inspect their mechanics. Harold, Noah's landlord, confronts him over late rent. Noah offers Harold a Larry the Larvae toy in exchange for a one-day extension. On the drive home, Harold is killed when the Larvae crawls into his mouth and bursts from his eye.

The next day, Derek finds another gift on the porch. Sarah takes them to a mall Santa, who is portrayed by Noah. Meanwhile, Pino sneaks back into their house and, when Sarah and Derek return early because of Noah's odd behavior, Pino flees.

Sarah wrestles with whether Derek should open the gift, but he refuses. Kim visits, and Derek sneaks outside to throw the present into a garbage can while they talk.

Kim's adopted son Lonnie opens the discarded gift and discovers roller skates. The moment foreshadows the danger hidden inside the toys.

Lonnie tests the roller skates and rockets hidden inside cause him to lose control. He careens into a car and is hospitalized as a result of the accident.

In a drunken rage, Joe begins beating Pino, accidentally killing him by knocking him down stairs. The revelation of Pino's true nature raises the stakes for the family.

Noah confronts Sarah at a parking garage, revealing he is her old boyfriend and Derek's real father. The two reconcile their relationship and prepare to face the mounting danger together.

At Sarah's house, Meridith and Buck have sex when Joe unleashes a horde of toys that attack them. Sarah and Noah arrive to find Meridith bloodied and Buck dead, and Derek abducted by Joe, who has taken him to the toy store. Noah explains Joe's past: years earlier he was arrested for booby-trapping toys after his pregnant wife died in a car crash.

Sarah and Noah rush to the toy store. Joe attacks Noah with a remote-controlled plane and an acid-squirting water pistol, knocking him out. Joe reveals he is actually Pino, a robot created to replace his dead son and rebuilt in drunken rages. Pino proclaims his plan to kill Derek; Noah and Sarah destroy Pino.

Sarah, Derek, and Noah escape from the toy store. As they leave, one of Joe's partially assembled robots has its eyes spark ominously, hinting that the danger may not be over.
