In 1983, the recruits are told a chilling ghost story about a mad woman who died at 23:59 and would return to haunt the island camp at that exact time. Tan, the platoon outcast, tries to persuade his friend Jeremy that the tale is real, but Jeremy remains skeptical. The legend sets a foreboding mood as the men prepare for the training ahead.

During the jungle route march, Tan disappears without a trace. Search parties later find his body, marking the first tragic mystery the platoon has to confront.

The immediate aftermath divides the camp. The recruits and their sergeant believe supernatural forces were involved, while their officer insists Tan's death was an accident.

That night, Jeremy has a nightmare in which Tan's ghost warns that Chester will be the next to die. The dream unsettles him and deepens the sense that something beyond coincidence is at work.

Shortly after the nightmare, Chester is possessed by a spirit and must be restrained while a priest is called to exorcise him. The exorcism underscores the severity of the haunting for the unit.

Jeremy confronts Chester about their night guard and learns that he and Tan had encountered the ghost during duty. Jeremy also notes that he himself has glimpsed the same apparition several times since Tan's death.

Locals explain the woman was a medium who bore a deformed daughter. The daughter and mother were ostracised and believed cursed, which fuels the haunting's motive and fear among the islanders.

That night, Chester and Jeremy hear a strange noise and follow it into the jungle, where Chester is killed by an unseen force. Jeremy sustains a leg injury while trying to flee and ends up taking shelter in the medium's house.

Inside the medium's house, Jeremy discovers the medium's skeleton on a rocking chair and encounters her ghost again. She tells him she was not responsible for the recruits' deaths; it was actually her daughter's ghost who killed them.

The backstory reveals that the medium poisoned her daughter to death years ago and then took her own life. The daughter's ghost haunts the island as a result of that tragedy, escalating the haunting's origins.

The medium's ghost apologizes and reconciles with her daughter's ghost, suggesting a fragile peace between the spirits. This moment shifts the haunting from vengeance to unresolved mourning and closure.

The sergeant and two recruits locate Jeremy in the house, and he begins to recover from the possession. He completes basic training and returns home safely after the ordeal.

In the present day, three recruits recount the legend on the island. As 23:59 approaches, they hear the same eerie noise, echoing the tale's enduring curse.
