Set against a historical backdrop, the film follows the pivotal meeting between a vulnerable 18‑year‑old Hans Christian Andersen, who holds himself in high esteem, and the world‑weary school principal Mr. Meisling. Their clash of optimism and cynicism becomes the catalyst that reshapes Andersen’s outlook and sends him toward his future as a writer.
