It chronicles the turbulent life of the controversial 1960s Black revolutionary and convicted murderer Michael X through a kaleidoscopic blend of sound and imagery. A discordant free‑jazz score creates a surreal counterpoint to the mix of newsreel footage and staged scenes, making the film an exhilarating documentary experiment.
