A black‑and‑white prelude shows a woman in a kimono climbing stairs while Mitsubishi Zeros fly overhead and Japanese military footage overlays. She stops at the landing to pray, rings a bell and enters, where scene shifts to colour. She unwraps her kimono, wipes her face with a cloth, wraps a blade, caresses it, then cuts her abdomen. She collapses on mat, crawls in blood, slipping until she can no longer move.
