In 1969 Swaziland, a young boy named Ralph Compton witnesses a nation preparing for independence while his family struggles with its own turmoil. The story, a semi-autobiographical account, explores the waning influence of the British Empire and the challenges faced during a time of great change. Through Ralph's perspective, the film portrays both the humor and heartbreak of a family grappling with a collapsing world and the shifting foundations of their lives.
