Vipers

The Universal Bio Tech Research Facility secretly develops venom-enhancing modifications on horned vipers using C12. The goal is to create a venom-based cure for disease, not simply weaponize the snakes. The project operates in secrecy, away from public scrutiny.

The enhanced venom cures a woman's breast cancer, illustrating medical potential. The breakthrough confirms the researchers' claims about the venom's healing properties. It also draws attention from powerful interests within and outside the company.

Aided by his own men, Jon Staffin subdues the facility staff and steals the vipers. In the chaos that follows, the snakes are released into the facility's surroundings. The vipers’ killing spree begins.

The released vipers kill four people and begin to repopulate across the area. Their spread reaches Eden Cove on the island, escalating the threat. Authorities scramble to contain the outbreak.

On Eden Cove, Sheriff Tom Hendricks informs Doc Jim Silverton that Maggie broke into a store to smoke marijuana. Policeman Cal Taylor accompanies Doc as they plan to investigate further. This sets the stage for their dangerous investigation.

Cal and Doc travel to the store's secret marijuana garden, uncovering illicit cultivation and connections to local figures. They realize the drug operation may be tied to the same people responsible for releasing the vipers. The revelation deepens the island's peril.

A child named Jake is bitten by a viper near the store. Cal administers antivenom at a clinic, stabilizing him. Vera Collins from Universal Bio Tech says she needs to examine the bite to determine its origin.

Nicky, the store owner, is imprisoned for growing marijuana. Using tools Cal unintentionally left behind, she escapes and heads toward the inn. Cal saves her from a viper.

The vipers invade the inn lobby as the town struggles to cope with the danger. Tom saves Maggie and locks her in a safe room; he is killed by the snakes, and Jack saves Ellie in the ensuing chaos.

Cal and Nicky deter the snakes with a fire extinguisher, and the group hides in a non-functioning van to survive the attack. The siege continues as the creatures menace the town.

Doc, Staffin, and Vera deploy grenades containing C12 to subdue the snakes. A Burton associate is killed in the resulting confusion.

Lewison drives a truck to lure the snakes toward the greenhouse, while Cal, Vera, Nicky, and Brownie guide them with heat sources. They manage to herd the vipers into the greenhouse as aircraft arrive and Burton is arrested. Later, a snake in Burton's car kills him, and the crisis ends with the island not being gassed.
