Set in 1940 amid the British occupation of Iceland, a naive country boy travels to Reykjavik seeking work with the army and hoping to locate his lost childhood sweetheart. He soon discovers she is involved with a British soldier, and the boy grows uneasy, suspecting that the man is less an officer than a strange, almost monstrous figure.
