Bose accepts a new assignment and travels to Rameshwaram to investigate the brutal rape and murder of 15-year-old Manjalnayaki. He discovers that local police have already arrested Aazad, a former Naxal, and is being pushed as the main suspect. Bose senses the case may be manipulated to fit a quick closure.

Uyya, Manjal's father and town barber, meets Bose and recounts his version of events. Manjal goes missing, and her body is later found floating in the sea, with a ribbon clue tying to the car of Sachin and his friends. The police's handling appears hurried and reinforces Bose's suspicion that Aazad is being framed.

Bose connects the ribbon clue and a fragment of Manjal's science project to challenge the police's narrative. He grows convinced that Sachin and his friends are the real perpetrators, and that Aazad's arrest was a case of misdirection to close the case quickly.

Bose confirms Aazad's innocence and learns that Aazad had come to Tamil Nadu seeking a reformed life. The rising media attention and public protests make it difficult for the police to release him immediately, so the investigation widens to identify the real killers.

Brahmaraja learns of the case and decides to divert attention back to Aazad. He sends his nephew Ganga and other henchmen to assault Bose and to silence Aazad, aiming to protect his own interests.

Mythili, who works for the PMO, helps secure a habeas corpus order that requires Aazad to be produced alive before the Chennai High Court with heavy security. The order heightens political and legal stakes and buys time for a more thorough pursuit of the truth.

Ganga and his men launch an attempt to derail Bose's plan and kill Aazad, but Bose manages to outsmart them and get Aazad to escape in disguise. Brahmaraja locates Bose and confronts him as the chase continues.

Under Bose's instruction, Uyya travels to Sachin's hideout in Chennai to exact vengeance for Manjal's death. He confronts the perpetrators and kills them, highlighting the corrosive cycle of violence surrounding the case.

Bose forces Brahmaraja to watch the footage of Uyya's actions, forcing him to confront the consequences of escalating violence. Overwhelmed by the revelation and his own impotence, Brahmaraja commits suicide.

Aazad arrives at the Madurai branch of the Chennai High Court to seek custody, backed by the habeas corpus order. The court case highlights Bose's determination to secure Aazad's liberty and safety.

Uyya ultimately chooses humanity, guiding the killers to confess to the media and police. The four criminals are arrested, and Aazad is freed to begin a peaceful life, with Bose's humane approach serving as the film's moral pivot.
