Things Are Tough All Over

Cheech and Chong find themselves battling the bitter cold of a Chicago winter while working at a car wash. Under the oppressive management of Mr. Slyman and Prince Habib, they face difficulties keeping up with their responsibilities, leading them into a series of misadventures.

After failing to meet their employer's expectations, Cheech and Chong are forced to give up on their dreams of success. Instead, they become entertainers at an upscale club owned by their bosses, trying to impress the Arab's French girlfriends with their amusingly off-key rock renditions.

The Arabs plan to transfer a large sum of dirty money to their Las Vegas businesses and ingeniously hire Cheech and Chong to drive a limousine filled with cash. They weave a story about a 'rock tour' to distract the duo from their real task.

While on their journey, Cheech and Chong encounter a gas attendant in Chicago who seizes their car as collateral for unpaid debts. This twist forces the pair into a chaotic cross-country adventure as they set out to reclaim their vehicle.

Thus begins a tumultuous journey where Cheech and Chong are left with no choice but to sell pieces of their beloved vehicle for funds. As their car is stripped away, it becomes an odd mashup of scraps, mirroring the chaos of their adventure.

While traversing the desert, Cheech and Chong pick up a hitchhiker named Donna, who is traveling with a group of Mexican friends. They seize the opportunity to earn some cash by offering to drive Donna and her crew to a nearby gas station.

In a comical blunder, Cheech and Chong inadvertently discard a chair from the limousine that hides a stash of cash. Unaware of their loose end, the duo continues their journey through the desert, oblivious to the cash slipping away.

The situation worsens when Cheech and Chong are abandoned by the Arabs at a crumbling oil plant. As dehydration and hopelessness loom, they take peyote, seeking comfort in the hallucinogenic escape from the harsh reality surrounding them.

Meanwhile, the Arabs discover the dire state of their transaction when they find that Cheech and Chong have arrived at the oil plant with merely the shell of the limousine. Fearing financial ruin, they send a private plane to confront the duo.

In the desert, Cheech and Chong stumble upon a beleaguered gas station where they meet a wisecracking sage sharing his own past adventures. This unexpected encounter sets off a series of comedic events that intertwine the fates of both parties.

In the midst of their antics, they meet flamboyant comedian Rip Taylor, who adds a layer of humor to their already outrageous situation. With Cheech and Chong donning women’s clothing, they unwittingly share a meal with the very Arabs on their tail.

When the Arabs start to catch on to Cheech and Chong's antics, they must make a quick escape. Their comedic retreat takes them through the lively Las Vegas streets, culminating in a chaotic chase that leaves them desperate to evade capture.

In a surprising turn of events, Cheech and Chong learn that the Arabs have no plans for revenge, but instead wish to cast them in a series of adult films to launder their illicit earnings. The duo is left grappling with the absurd reality of their situation.
