Gilbert & George are living sculptures, merging art and identity with the world. Their work probes 1980s London’s bleak streets, channeling the hopes and anxieties of disillusioned youth while echoing their eccentricities. Poetic narration and vivid imagery turn spires, rain‑slick avenues, drunks and tea‑drinkers into symbolic lenses for their view.
