Alekos (Dinos Iliopoulos) loves Voula (Maria Voulgari), whose brother threatens to kill him unless they marry soon. Their father (Pantelis Zervos) insists Alekos’s sister Annoula (Zoe Laskari) wed first. Annoula’s boyfriend Antonis (Stephanos Stratigos) meets Alekos in a Panorama café and advises “escaping through an engagement” to appease Voula’s brother—while planning to use the same trick himself.
