Pregnant by free‑love follower Georg, Irmgard pretends they are married to protect her child. She arranges a sham wedding with Georg’s twin brother John, who poses as Georg for the priest. After Georg vanishes and is declared dead, John obsessively pursues Irmgard. She flees to the mountains, where a stranger offers her protection.
