In a world turned upside down by the unexpected consequences of culinary negligence, a zombie outbreak erupts from a sushi chef’s shocking disregard for hygiene. In a reckless display, he prepares a meal for the homeless without employing basic sanitary practices, such as wearing gloves or washing his hands.

Fast forward twenty-nine days, and we find ourselves in a hospital overwhelmed by the relentless onslaught of the undead. Among them is Romeo, a zombie who exhibits an unsettling degree of self-reflection. As he maneuvers through the devastated landscape, he narrowly avoids encounters with survivors like Chicago, who remains preoccupied with more urgent matters, and Green Bay, who crosses paths with Sheriff Lincoln (Dave Sheridan), an authority figure who has recently emerged from a coma.

Sheriff Lincoln faces a bewildering reunion with his son Chris, which is overshadowed by a string of unfortunate events, including a baseball mishap that leaves him muddling through life, misremembering his child’s name. Seeking purpose amidst the chaos, he turns to the remnants of the internet, only to find that LinkedIn has morphed into a bustling hub for human connection in a post-apocalyptic world.

As Lincoln embarks on a quest to reunite with his family, Green Bay and Chicago offer words of encouragement and disclose the existence of their makeshift settlement, located within an abandoned shopping mall. Simultaneously, Romeo becomes intrigued by Brooklyn, an enigmatic young woman who has drawn the attention of both Green Bay and Chicago. Unbeknownst to these potential suitors, Brooklyn harbors a profound disdain for Green Bay, whose clumsiness could threaten her hopes for romance.

Meanwhile, the elusive Super Survivor continues to dispatch the hordes of the undead with remarkable ease. Sheriff Lincoln’s pursuit of his family’s whereabouts takes him to a strip club, where he finds that Chris has assumed a role as the club’s reluctant proprietor. Tragedy strikes as Lincoln’s wife Barbie meets her end at the hands of a zombie, and later falls victim to her own son in a devastating twist.

These shocking developments shift the group’s dynamics, introducing Harlem (the sister of Brooklyn), whose inner monologues materialize as cryptic text messages. Another newcomer, Darnell, arrives with a plethora of reckless ideas and a toy crossbow he insists is genuine.

As Romeo makes his entrance, Brooklyn is inexplicably drawn to his brooding demeanor, while Darnell unexpectedly proves to be a valuable ally in their struggle against the undead. The nascent “di-archy” emerges, with Lincoln and Chicago vying for supremacy among their newly formed group.

With tensions brewing beneath the surface, the group turns its attention toward a legendary sanctuary known as “the farm,” rumored to be untouched by zombification. Little do they realize that this Safe Haven is actually controlled by the enigmatic Reganites, who harbor their own secrets.

Upon reaching the farm, they encounter Isaac, an uninfected young woman whose existence is a closely guarded secret from her family. Living among the undead, Isaac is torn between safeguarding them and concealing her condition from her parents. As the haze from their indulgent revelry begins to fade, the group finds themselves crashing an uninvited party—the zombies drawn to the noise.

Chris successfully takes down one of the undead, while Lincoln attempts to convey the severity of the outbreak, but his warnings fall on deaf ears as Isaac and Green Bay are too captivated by their carefree state. Amid this chaos, Harlem’s sharp words reveal a shocking truth—she is deaf and relies on lip-reading to navigate her surroundings.

In the midst of the turmoil, Isaac and Green Bay step up to defend their impromptu home using a mix of unconventional weapons and quirky trivia. Meanwhile, Darnell’s carelessness leads to unforeseen consequences when he accidentally wounds the Super Survivor with a stray bullet. Overcome with remorse, Darnell finds himself burdened by his mistake, a fate that ultimately leads to Harlem providing a swift mercy.

As the chaos ensues, the connection between Brooklyn and Romeo grows more intense, their desire for one another clouding their judgment as they grapple with the complexities of forbidden love. Amid the turmoil, a sliver of hope emerges—a cure has quietly infiltrated the water supply. Quickly, Brooklyn and Romeo seize the chance to spray the antidote onto their bite wounds, reversing their zombification.

The group’s reunion fills them with an exhilarating sense of freedom, leading to an impromptu celebration. Chris gathers the courage to express his buried feelings for Harlem, while Lincoln’s once menacing tendencies begin to diminish, with Chicago stepping in to quell his aggression.

As the night unfolds and the festivities reach their zenith, the now-cured Romeo and Brooklyn share a passionate moment, free from the specter of death. In another corner, Green Bay and Isaac slip away to indulge in their own celebration, only to be jolted awake by ominous news on the radio: a gigantic meteor, comparable to the size of Texas, is hurtling towards Earth, casting a shadow over their hard-earned victory.
