After Tangie the teddy bear mistakenly uses the Smile‑erator, his smile is turned upside‑down and he lands in a bargain bin on Christmas Eve alongside other misfit toys. He is then shipped to Winkle’s Emporium, a discount shop, where he spends the year hoping to find a family. In the shop’s front window he befriends Jack, a claustrophobic Jack‑in‑the‑box, and Bird, an agoraphobic cuckoo‑clock bird, sharing their quirky fears while waiting for a new home.
