The widowed mother rabbit warns her children that their father met a tragic end in Mr. McGregor’s vegetable garden, saying Mrs. McGregor turned him into a pie. While her three obedient daughters stick to picking blackberries along the lane, the rebellious son Peter sneaks into the garden, feasts on vegetables, overeats, and later searches for parsley to soothe his stomach ache.
