Based on true events, the story follows two parallel threads in New South Wales. A burnt corpse of a young woman is found on a beach, prompting a retired inspector to doubt the police suspect and reopen the case. At the same time, waitress‑ferry attendant Linda juggles several lovers, marries one but keeps the others, leading to a separation and tangled complications. Their investigations eventually intersect as hidden links surface.
