The Night Eats the World

Sam, an eager musician, heads to his ex-girlfriend Fanny's lively party in Paris, hoping to retrieve some cherished music tapes. The atmosphere is chaotic as guests enjoy the celebration, but Fanny seems uninterested in his presence, focusing on her party instead.

After being dismissed multiple times by Fanny during the party, Sam finally learns that the tapes he is after are stashed in her office. With determination, he sets out to retrieve them, only to be interrupted by a guest who accidentally knocks him over.

As Sam regains composure after his fall, he suddenly passes out,unaware of the bizarre events unfolding outside Fanny's office. His unconscious state becomes a turning point, as the world outside is about to turn into a nightmare.

Upon waking up the next morning, Sam is horrified to find the apartment in complete disarray with bloodstains and no sign of life. His curiosity draws him to the staircase where he encounters a terrifying sight: Fanny transformed into a zombie, threatening his safety.

In a panic, Sam barricades himself inside Fanny's apartment to escape the ravenous zombies. Through the window, he witnesses a family trying to escape in a car, only to meet a gruesome fate at the hands of the growing undead horde.

Days pass with no hope of escape, prompting Sam to clean up the apartment in an attempt to restore some normalcy to his life. However, the sound of a shotgun blast from an apartment below shatters this fragile peace.

Peering through a hole in the floor, Sam witnesses the aftermath of a horrific suicide committed by a resident. Disturbed yet determined, he seizes the shotgun left behind, contemplating his next move in this deadly world.

Sam takes a brave step outside his barricaded apartment to explore the other units in the building. While most are empty, he manages to barricade one unit after a tense encounter with a lurking horde, narrowly escaping danger.

In one of his explorations, Sam stumbles upon a zombified elderly man in the lift, whom he names Alfred. He engages in one-sided conversations with Alfred, trying to stave off the creeping loneliness that settles in.

In a moment of desperation, Sam attempts to catch a stray cat but almost meets his demise in the process. His panic leads him to accidentally shoot at the cat, revealing the toll that the situation is taking on his mental state.

As winter approaches, Sam faces additional challenges with declining heat and a non-working water supply. He becomes increasingly reliant on rainwater and improvises with makeshift fireplaces to survive during these harsh conditions.

Sam, driven to madness, decides to test the zombies' awareness by playing his drum set loudly. The experiment backfires as the zombies converge on his apartment, threatening to breach his fragile sanctuary.

After a night of wild chaos, Sam inadvertently injures another survivor who he believes to be Sarah. As they converse, he realizes that these exchanges are merely vivid hallucinations, amplifying his sense of isolation and despair.

Heartbroken from the loss of the imaginary Sarah, Sam decides to destroy the music tapes that symbolize his past. In a moment of anguish, he burns them, which unintentionally triggers a fire alarm, escalating the existing chaos.

As the chaos escalates around him, Sam navigates through the smoke of the fire and makes a daring escape to the rooftop. While looking out over the Paris skyline, he is left with haunting thoughts about the possibility of other survivors amidst the pandemonium.
