Begoña Laura Morante is a thirty-something consultant who has openly rejected her upper-middle-class upbringing and has leaned into a life shaped by sexual exploration since her youth. On the guidance of a psychoanalyst, she begins keeping a video diary of her encounters using a palm-sized device known as The Owl, a discreet recorder that captures not just the moments themselves but the moods behind them, offering a window into how she negotiates desire, independence, and the expectations placed on her.

On Christmas Eve, she reluctantly joins a family dinner that includes her stern mother, her married brother, and her younger sister. The gathering underscores the rift between Begoña and her relatives, and a clash erupts that ends with her storming out in visible disharmony. Only her sister seems genuinely sympathetic, offering a small thread of warmth amid the coldness of the occasion. As the night unfolds, she slips into a bar where she is drawn into a new connection.

In the bar, Daniel Miguel Ángel García appears—a handsome, self-assured man who seems to have nothing definite in his life. He notices Begoña’s charisma and fearless energy, and the two strike up a conversation that hints at something exciting and risky. But the moment is complicated when Elio Jose Coronado, her on-and-off partner and a daring biker, shows up and a heated argument breaks out between him and Daniel, throwing the night into uncertainty. As New Year’s Day arrives, the party scene brings a blast from the past: Santiago Miguel Bosé, Begoña’s high school boyfriend, is now married with twins, and he embodies a life that seems far from the intimate chaos she navigates. At the same gathering, Marian Ana Obregn—a friend married to a much younger man and battling infertility—asks for Begoña’s help to obtain sperm from her husband for artificial insemination, a request that thrusts Begoña into the intimate logistics of another couple’s hopes and fear.

Driven by a sense of adventure, Begoña accepts Elio’s dare to venture into a rough district of Madrid under the pretense of being a prostitute. The plan takes a dark turn when she is brutally raped by a pimp, an event that shatters her sense of safety and foreshadows a more complicated path forward. In the aftermath, she reevaluates her life and seeks a measure of respectability: she marries Daniel and has a child, hoping for something steadier and more meaningful than the volatile hunger that fueled her earlier choices. Yet the lure of risk and the pull of the world she once knew keep calling her back to the seedy neighborhoods where pain and exhilaration mingle.

The transformation Begoña undergoes is not about guilt or punishment but about the messy, honest pursuit of freedom, connection, and self-discovery. The film traces how a person can orbit multiple loves, ambitions, and identities at once—sometimes harmonizing them, sometimes letting them clash—while maintaining a stubborn belief in personal agency and the possibility of growth through experience.
