In a small town in southwestern France, life revolves around camaraderie, nights of drinking, and shared stories. Here, the men consider themselves kings. However, the peaceful existence is disrupted when Jeannot returns from prison, determined to reclaim Chantal, the woman he loves. While he was incarcerated, she has moved in with the local butcher, setting off a chain of events reminiscent of a Greek tragedy unfolding in a Western setting.
