A friend—the merchant’s son—argues that the prince chose this fate by staying, yet despair only tightens its grip. Then an oracle—a mysterious figure—appears with a message of liberation. The oracle insists that freedom will arrive not by clinging to the old walls but by choosing to leave them behind. In a quiet, brave moment, the prince shares a farewell with his mother and steps out in search of a true adventure beyond confinement. The prince’s awakening is grounded in a hard-won understanding that the mind can imprison as surely as any prison, and that escape begins with a decision.

Meanwhile, the storyteller’s journey loops back to a ruined palace where a solitary woman waits, as if she has been listening for his arrival. The widow Horotoni, brought to life by Rii Sen, becomes the anchor of his tale. From the ruined palace, the story sails to a shipwrecked paradise island, where the prince and his friend encounter a culture of soldiers who call themselves the Cards and live by a stern code that bans many human impulses. They are brought before the court, found guilty of defying the rigid customs, and banished. Before departing, the prince lends his final whisper of liberation to a handful of Card women. The first to listen is the ace of hearts, whose courage sparks a chain reaction that unsettles the regime. Under the prince’s influence and the friend’s support, she begins a whisper campaign that drives women to slip away into a forest sanctuary. As dissent spreads, the jack of diamonds meets the ace and discovers desire in a new light, fueling a dangerous but hopeful partnership aimed at overthrowing the regime.
