The film follows a divorced father who battles the courts for custody of his seven‑year‑old daughter. He clashes firmly with police. When his marriage collapses, he kidnaps her to keep her from a mother he believes, because of mental illness, is unfit. As the ordeal unfolds, he discovers that being a real man is so far harder than being a real father.
