A 1979 documentary by Rosa von Praunheim chronicles the singing and acting career of Tally Brown, classically trained in opera and blues, who became a cult figure in New York’s underground film scene of the late 1960s. Through interviews she recalls collaborations with Andy Warhol and Taylor Mead, friendships with Holly Woodlawn and Divine, opens with a Bowie cover of “Heroes” and closes with “Rock ’n’ Roll Suicide,” reflecting the gritty 1970s New York milieu.
