Skagerrak follows Danish Marie and Irish Sophie, tired of endless partying, who dock in northern Scotland. After a drunken night leaves them penniless, Sophie urges Marie to take a lucrative surrogacy. Months later, heavily pregnant and wanting an abortion, Marie flees the future parents, searches for Sophie's ex‑boyfriend Ken, and, mistaken for someone else, hides with three strangers in a gritty Glasgow garage, where unexpected happiness returns.
