At a quiet, secluded hotel, the morning mood shifts when Linda Spring, the owner, is kidnapped by a masked intruder. Far away, the Keenan family—Roy, Elaine, their younger son Kevin, and their older daughter Taylor—find themselves managing a tense weekend after Taylor is caught stealing alcohol. They decide to turn the trip into a family getaway and head to the same hotel, only to be told by the apparent owner, Mr. Lockwood, that there’s no internet access and that cameras have been installed around the property. The sense of unease deepens as Taylor encounters two unfamiliar teens, Theo and Louis, at a bar, but Elaine quickly pulls her back from trouble.

In the hotel’s basement, Linda’s fate is sealed as a man in a plague doctor costume murders her with a power drill, a chilling prelude to the night’s events. As darkness falls, Taylor ignores warnings and sneaks out to spend time with Theo and Louis. Lockwood springs his trap, initiating a lockdown and releasing four masked killers: the enigmatic Player One; the sibling duo, Player Two and Player Three; and the muscular Player Four. A security guard is captured by Lockwood, who then takes control of the situation.

Roy awakens to find Taylor gone and begins a desperate search through the hotel, joined briefly by Kevin as the two try to stay one step ahead of the masked assailants. On the roof, Taylor is found in the company of the two boys, while Kevin remains nearby. The danger intensifies when Player One discovers their room and kills Elaine in a brutal strike, sapping the family’s sense of safety. In a shocking turn, Lockwood unmasks himself to the security guard as the plague doctor and then kills the guard with a swift, cold-blooded act.

Roy discovers Elaine’s body and enlists the help of Bernard Davidson, a retired police officer, to unravel the mystery behind the carnage. Kevin becomes a prisoner in a locked room, watching the horrors unfold through the hotel’s live-streamed cameras as audiences online bid on the killers’ next moves. A survivor among the victims from Player Two and Player Three manages to escape briefly, but is betrayed and fatally stabbed by Player Three when she tries to flee, a moment that provokes Lockwood to act with ruthless efficiency.

Kevin manages a daring hack into Lockwood’s control system, drawing the killers’ attention and forcing Lockwood to pursue him toward the room where the others are regrouping. Theo and Taylor attempt an escape from the hotel, only to be drawn back into the nightmare; Theo meets a grim end when he is impaled by Player Two. The tension escalates as Player Four kills Louis earlier and then closes in on Bernard and Roy, only for Bernard to shoot the threat dead and betray Roy in the process.

Bernard’s attempt to outsmart Lockwood ends abruptly when Lockwood reveals he saw everything coming and kills Bernard with a power drill. The beleaguered group learns that Player One is actually Roy in disguise, turning the hunt inward as they set Player Two ablaze in a desperate bid for survival. Back in the lobby, a final confrontation erupts between Roy and Lockwood, with Taylor rushing in and killing Roy, misidentifying him as one of the killers.

Taylor’s victory is sealed when she beheads Lockwood with a hatchet, leaving her and Kevin to be interviewed by Detective Hart beside an ambulance. The scene hints at a broader audience watching the Stream, as several paramedics appear to be part of the viewer base, and the broadcast lists Taylor and Kevin as winners, with a twist: a Black British man named “Lockwood” urges viewers to stay tuned for the next season.

The mid-credits sequence shifts to the Atrium movie theater, where another Stream installment unfolds. Two people are killed, an older man knocked out, and a wheelchair-bound plague-doctor masked man identifies himself as “Lockwood” once more. An associate of his activates the electric chair for the older man, while Sofia becomes the next target, signaling that the Stream’s vicious game plans are far from over.
