Released in 2000, Eminem’s song “Stan” depicts an obsessive, unstable fan and has become iconic, prompting “stan” to be added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017. In the track, the titular character writes emotional letters to Eminem, repeatedly insisting, “I’m just like you,” a refrain that underscores his need for connection.
