Spellbound

Jo-goo, a street magician, notices a miserable girl in the audience, Yeo-ri. Her presence sparks the idea for a new Horror magic show, transforming his act from casual street performance to a full-blown stage spectacle. The show becomes a runaway success almost overnight, and Jo-goo rises to a celebrated stage magician with a model girlfriend.

Yeo-ri works for Jo-goo, playing the specter in his show. Her presence adds a chilling layer to the performances, and Jo-goo begins to rely on her more.

Almost a year passes and the darkness inside Yeo-ri grows; her colleagues sense she can't truly connect with them. Her inner turmoil remains largely unseen as she continues to work with Jo-goo.

Jo-goo invites Yeo-ri to a staff dinner to include her, but the night turns chaotic as she becomes hilariously drunk. The incident strains their professional relationship and highlights her social awkwardness and fragility.

Jo-goo calls Yeo-ri to sort things out the morning after, but the call ends with a strange, dissonant sound as the line disconnects. He decides to drop by her place to speak in person, hoping to mend what’s broken.

At Yeo-ri's place, Jo-goo experiences a game of hide-and-seek with a ghost child. The eerie encounter unsettles him and foreshadows the supernatural danger surrounding Yeo-ri. The haunting lingers into the night.

As they spend more time together, their bond deepens into a genuine friendship and budding romance. Yeo-ri opens up about the long story behind her pale, wan face, revealing the loneliness that defines her life.

Yeo-ri explains she has been able to see the dead since surviving a high school automobile accident, and the dead bodies appear around her life. The vengeful ghost of her best friend Joo-hee relentlessly haunts her, complicating her interactions with others.

To cope with the hauntings, Yeo-ri leads a solitary life as her family flees the country. She sleeps in a tent in her living room and only talks to a friend over the phone, resigning herself to isolation.

Jo-goo's attempts to find Yeo-ri a boyfriend fail, but their feelings deepen as they face the supernatural danger together. He loves her enough to face his fears and stand by her side.

The jealous ghost Joo-hee becomes a real threat during the show, prompting Yeo-ri to head off and join her family to protect Jo-goo from the haunting.
