Newlyweds Chen and Lily, a Hong‑Kong couple, move to England and await the birth of their son while coping with low‑pay jobs—Chen works long hours in a restaurant, Lily cleans and dreams of opening a shop. Chen’s friend Fok draws him into gambling, then into a Chinese triad’s drug‑courier scheme. Burdened by debt, Chen realizes that launching their own business may be their only chance to escape.
