In 1943 a village in Ladimirevci, eastern Croatia, landowner Sima aids both the Partisans and the Ustasha to protect his son Beneš, conscripted into the German army. At the same time Sima tries to tame a prized stallion, Sokol, who obeys only his son, underscoring the strained father‑son bond.
