Set in post‑WWI Hungary in 1919 after the brief communist Republic of Councils collapses under a nationalist counter‑revolution, Admiral Horthy declares himself regent. The Royal Gendarme hunts former Red Army soldiers. Ex‑soldier István Cserzi hides on a remote farm run by two sympathetic women, while the nation lives in fear and persecution.
