During the Cyprus conflict, schoolteacher Lale loses her pilot husband Murat in a crash and, pregnant, moves to his sister Aynur’s home in Cyprus. While Lale is briefly in Turkey, EOKA militants raid the house, killing Aynur and her husband; their infant son Sezer is rescued by a passerby. Years later, an EOKA attack exposes his past, prompting Sezer to search for his mother and tell the fighters what happened.
