Milanese piano teacher Luisa De Dominicus relocates to Lucca to join her lover, city councilman Ferdinando “Bonci” Marinotti, who is secretly married and unfaithful. Misunderstood by the building’s boys as a call‑girl, they install a hidden peephole into the landlord’s son Marcello’s room. Marcello becomes obsessed with her, conflicted over the rumor, and after Luisa discovers Bonci’s infidelity, she yields to Marcello’s unreciprocated desire.
