June 1815 finds Napoleon Bonaparte surrounded by enemies, ready for his decisive moment. Burdened by his legend, he despairs of the super‑leader role. His aide, le maréchal Hugo Armani, idolizes the emperor and selects Waterloo to prove himself, slipping into a borderline psychotic break—the first recorded Napoleonic delirium. With few marshals, Napoleon reluctantly entrusts command to the unstable Armani, now leading French troops.
