Set in 1972 Rockville, Georgia, Major Kendall Laird, a Survival Assistance Officer, arrives with the body of Lieutenant Dwyte Johnson, a Black Vietnam hero, to help his grieving parents arrange a burial. The town’s all‑white cemetery, guarded by white racists, refuses them, exposing the stark racism that even military honor cannot erase.
