In present-day Turkey, an unemployed Recep İvedik is scolded by a police officer for harassment but ultimately let go. On his way home, he discovers a hotel owner’s wallet and soon spots the same man, Muhsin Basaran, on television offering advice. Motivated by respect, Recep sets off on a road trip to return the wallet, turning a small act of courtesy into a wandering quest. Along the route, he lends a hand to young women dealing with car battery issues, dips into lively dance circles, and unexpectedly ends up hitchhiking with a troupe of eccentric rock musicians after his car breaks down. While intoxicated, he finds himself in a restaurant challenge, up against another man for a coveted car ride, and he wins the contest in a moment of reckless boldness.

After securing a lift with a truck driver, Recep learns that the driver is [Kamyoncu Halil], a realization that unsettles him due to Halil’s open homosexual glance and advances. Despite the awkward tension, Recep keeps moving but exits the truck when the driver makes advances, choosing to continue the journey on his own terms. The road-trip lifestyle continues to shape him as he hitchhikes for much of the trip, and he eventually returns the wallet to Basaran at a hotel, all while dreaming of seeing his childhood love, Sibel again.

Hotel life proves to be a new kind of trial. Recep embarrasses himself by locking himself out of his room while wearing only a bath towel, unsettling hotel manager Müdür Erim. After getting back inside, he bonds with a hotel receptionist over a late-night drink, and Erim assigns the receptionist to keep an eye on him to prevent further mishaps. The next morning, Recep accidentally knocks Sibel into a pool, sparking a brief quarrel and revealing that she doesn’t recognize him at first.

Recep buys summer clothes and longs to join [Sibel]’s volleyball game, but she refuses. Undeterred, he joins the opposing team and leads them to victory, though she declines the trophy he offers. At a buffet, Recep overeats, drawing another moment of embarrassment in front of [Müdür Erim], while sitting with [Sibel] and her mother, where weight-related insults surface and Recep leaves. In a bid to impress [Sibel], he asks Erim for permission to join an aerobics class; Erim agrees, only to surprise him with pink workout attire that becomes a source of further embarrassment. Nevertheless, Recep joins the class, delivering a quirky, unsettling performance that douses [Sibel]’s interest and amuses Erim.

An aquatic instructor appears, reminding [Sibel] and her mother of their upcoming scuba lesson. Recep joins the session, but his rude antics irritate the instructor. As the group prepares to dive, Recep slips away to an island where an adult film is being shot, interrupts the shoot, and insults the director before returning to the hotel. He confronts [Sibel] and her mother for not seeking him out, only to learn of his own memories when [Sibel] explains her mother’s illness, which triggers memories of Recep’s grandmother’s death. He hands [Sibel] a conch, insults her mother, and leaves, leaving the impression that [Sibel] is beginning to develop real feelings for him.

Back at the hotel, Recep asks the receptionist to accompany him to the disco, but the receptionist declines. At the disco, he spots [Sibel] with another man and challenges them to a dance contest, wowing the crowd with his moves. After his victory, he drinks heavily as a prize. The next morning, [Müdür Erim] finds him hungover by the pool as [Sibel]’s mother scolds him. He then notices [Sibel] entering the spa area with a masseur and follows, pretending to need the bathroom and covering the masseur’s face with a towel. He enters what he believes is [Sibel]’s room, only to discover another woman wrapped in towels. While [Sibel] arrives late and finds her room taken, Recep realizes the mix-up and flees, leaving her to deal with the confusion.

A photographer later asks Recep for a photo. He begins with a confident pose, then switches to a rude one, much to [Sibel]’s amusement. She joins him for a selfie and invites him to a hotel comedy night, which he accepts. Onstage, Recep becomes an accidental participant in a partner game, paired with the same client who had earlier been massaged. The balloon-pop challenge ends in humiliation when the chair collapses under the client’s weight, and Recep’s frustration leads him to fat-shame her.

Recep’s behavior gets him noticed by [Müdür Erim], who scolds him for insulting his dance partner and stirring trouble. Recep threatens to bring down the hotel with his trucker friends, and soon enough the group of truckers arrives, presenting a real threat. Erim tries to calm them with kindness, but they respond with intimidation, and Recep warns Erim that ejecting him would only invite disaster.

Later, on the beach, [Sibel] breaks off her engagement by phone after admitting new feelings for Recep, a revelation that triggers a sharp reaction from her mother. The two argue while her mother storms off, and Recep finds [Sibel] distraught, offering quiet comfort. Moments later, when her mother is nearly struck by a horse, Recep rushes to intervene, only for her to mistake his act as assault and demand medical help. Exhausted, Recep sinks onto a floating tube, which happens to be connected to a speedboat that suddenly accelerates and hurls him into the sea.

In the hotel infirmary, [Sibel] and her mother debate again about Sibel’s love life, prompting another quarrel. Recep chats with the receptionist at an outdoor bar, and when he spots [Sibel] on the beach, he tries to smooth things over with light humor. She, however, reveals she is engaged and cannot return his feelings, leaving him crushed and fleeing into the night. The next day, he decides to leave the hotel for good, asking the receptionist to deliver a bag of marbles to [Sibel], unsure of their significance.

As the departure unfolds, [Müdür Erim] scolds the receptionist for Recep’s antics, ultimately firing him. Yet when Erim sees [Sibel] and her mother leaving, he remembers the marbles and rushes to the airport to deliver them. [Sibel] discovers that the marbles are from their shared childhood, and the realization dawns that Recep was her long-lost childhood love.
