“Race d’Ep!” (literally “Breed of Faggots”) is a groundbreaking experimental documentary created by Guy Hocquenghem, the “father of queer theory,” with filmmaker Lionel Soukaz. Tracing modern homosexuality across the twentieth century, it moves from early sexology and Baron von Gloeden’s nudes to gay liberation and Parisian cruising. Influenced by Michel Foucault’s work on sexuality, the film presents a frank, sex‑filled portrait of emerging queer culture.
