Adapted from Antti Tuuri’s novel, this late‑80s Finnish comedy draws dark humor from northern Finland’s stereotypical mindset. While unfamiliar viewers may miss some cultural nuances, strong performances, deft direction and summer scenery compensate. It follows brothers and their families gathering to honor their late father, reopening old wounds yet reaffirming that brotherly loyalty endures.
