The climax of Phenomena reveals that the true menace haunting the antique shop is Manuel Isidro Sarmiento, a 16th‑century priest who died in the fire that once burned the rectory on the same site. His obsessive quest to out‑kill the historic witch‑hunter Pierre de Lancre drives him to possess anyone who comes near the shop, using the caretaker to commit the violent acts that have plagued the building.

When Father Pilón returns to the store alone, Sarmiento seizes the chance to attack him, hoping the injury will draw the three women—Sagrario, Paz and Gloria—into his trap. Their rescue of the caretaker’s daughter Susanita ends with the mother’s arrest, but the spirit is not yet vanquished. Sagrario and Paz return to the shop after Gloria disappears, only to find her in a trance, fully possessed by Sarmiento.

Inside a hidden passage behind a mirrored wardrobe, Father Pilón’s consciousness appears to Gloria. He urges her to become a conduit for the spirit, then sacrifices himself, allowing the priest’s malevolence to be redirected through her and ultimately destroyed. At the same moment, Sagrario, clutching the belt of her dead husband Carlos, uses it to break the supernatural barrier that blocks their escape and finally lets go of the belt—and the lingering hold of her past.

The three women regroup at their usual café, where Gerardo announces Father Pilón’s death, confirming his self‑less act. Sagrario, freed from Carlos’s memory, opens herself to the café’s owner, Jesús, hinting at a new personal beginning.

The film closes with the Hepta Group laughing together, reaffirming their commitment to investigate the unseen. In a brief mid‑credits scene, glasses on the café shelf topple and shatter—except for a single one that remains upright. Jesús watches, his expression shifting from surprise to a faint smile, suggesting either that he has just become part of the paranormal world or that he welcomes the next strange case the group will chase.
