The short opens on the RMS Scythia as it leaves Halifax Harbor. Originally a cruise liner later converted to a WWII troop ship, the Scythia famously transported children from Liverpool to New York in 1940 under the Children’s Overseas Reception Board. This post‑war voyage is one of the first civilian crossings from North America to the British Isles, carrying 150 child evacuees who have spent years growing up in Canada or the United States.
