David Hare’s explosive new play receives a live broadcast from the National Theatre. The story centers on Pauline Gibson, a respected doctor and passionate leader of a local health campaign. When an old boyfriend, a dedicated figure in the Labour Party, re-enters her life, she confronts a difficult choice. The play explores the personal sacrifices involved in dedicating oneself to a cause and whether she is willing to risk everything for something bigger than herself.
